"So klingt Europa" (That's the sound of Europe)

In the event series “So klingt Europa” (That’s the sound of Europe), the Federal Ministry of Finance has presented the music of the respective country having the Presidency of the EU Council. On 16 May, a selection music from Malta was presented at the Federal Finance Ministry in Berlin under the title “So klingt Malta” (That’s the sound of Malta). The Federal Minister of Finance, Dr Wolfgang Schäuble, had also invited his Maltese colleague, the Minister for Finance, Prof Dr Edward Scicluna. Both Ministers answered questions raised by the presenter prior to the beginning of the programme. The Valletta International Baroque Ensemble (VIBE), the rock band “The Travellers” from Gozo singing in Maltese, the folk group “Għana” and the two opera singers Joseph Lia and Cliff Zammit Stevens performed in the packed hall. The composer Ruben Zahra presented a contemporary interpretation of Maltese tales with folk music and narrated by Marc Cabourdin. During the event, the painter Anthony DeGiovanni portrayed famous Maltese monuments. 

At a following reception sponsored by the Embassy of Malta in Berlin with Maltese specialities, the guests could talk about the music presentation.

The German Ambassador to Malta, Ms Gudrun Sräga, and her colleague, Dr Albert Friggieri, the Maltese Ambassador to Berlin, who were both present, agreed that this presentation of Maltese music in Berlin is an excellent idea of the Federal Ministry of Finance.
