The Presidents of the Malta Chamber and the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (DIHK)signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding at Auberge de Castille in the presence of the Prime Minister of Malta, the Hon Lawrence Gonzi and the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Malta, H.E. Dr Hubert Ziegler. The agreement was signed on 30th November at the end of a two-day visit by a high-level delegation of the Deutscher Industrie- und Handelskammertag (DIHK) to Malta.

On November 14, Austrian actor Martin Waltz presented „Die kleine Komödie“ by Arthur Schnitzler in the premises of the German-Maltese Circle.
The reading was organised by the Austrian and German embassies in cooperation with the German-Maltese Circle and provided the audience with the opportunity to experience Mr. Waltz live. The ambassadors of both countries, H.E. DDr. Petra Schneebauer and H.E. Dr. Hubert Ziegler, were also among the sixty guests.

On October 5, Ambassador Dr. Hubert Ziegler and President Abela visited the storage of the German company Oiltanking on Malta. Being one of the leading operators of storage for oils, gases and chemicals in the Mediterranean, Oiltanking Malta celebrated its 20th anniversary and the inauguration of a new terminal.

Ambassador Dr. Ziegler honours German language teachers of Directorate for Lifelong Learning within the Ministry of Education and Employment
On Wednesday, 09.05.2012, H.E. Dr. Hubert Ziegler, paid an official visit to the Lifelong Learning Centre in Msida - a school which offers among many other subjects German language classes to adults during the day. On the occasion of his visit, H.E. Dr. Ziegler met with the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Dr James Calleja, and honoured the Maltese German language teachers of the Directorate for Lifelong Learning for their continuous efforts in teaching and promoting the German language.
The Directorate for Lifelong Learning within the Ministry of Education and Employment offers German language classes to adult learners (161 German language students and 5 teachers at the moment) in various localities. While the morning classes mainly take place at the Lifelong Learning Centre in Msida, the Evening Classes are held at St Ignatius College Blata l-Bajda. The Sliema, Gudja and Iklin local councils also host classes and give an opportunity to their residents to study the German language in their localities.
On 18.04.2012 Ambassador Dr. Ziegler took part in a tree-planting event in the Xrobb l-Għaġin Nature Park that marked the beginning of Nature Trust Malta's 50th anniversary celebrations this year.

On behalf of the Federal Foreign Office Ambassador Dr. Hubert Ziegler signed an agreement with the St. John’s Co-Cathedral Foundation Malta, represented by its President Mr. Paul A. Attard, on the funding of the restoration of the Chapel of the Langue of Germany.
